Over 30 years, I have seen the changes in the alarm industry as it effects business and residential clients. It comes in waves, every few years where smaller companies are bought out by larger companies. As is the case in Prince George. Companies like Security Web and Curtis Elite were doing a great job looking after residents, local businesses and civic government accounts. But changes happen, folks look to exit the industry and well companies get bought out. So the accounts get transferred to the new company with promises of better service. Well as many folks have discovered that “promise” of better from bigger is not always the case. Chances are good your reading this, for that very reason.
So why are we different? Well first there is no plan to sell out to a large company, because the grand plan is to build the company up so we can provide “local service” for the long term. That means creating jobs, careers and growth locally in the Prince George region. Bringing my 30+ years of knowledge to play, it works like this. In the event of a major “event” happening in B.C. (earthquake, floods, fires, wildfires, etc.) the chances of communications circuits going down is a real possibility. I understand communications and the infrastructure around it and knowing that means being prepared for “worst case” scenarios.
Without getting too technical about it, having a local monitoring station is critical in continuing the chain of service to local clients. However running a local station means expenses for facilities, wages and equipment. So that’s the end goal, to build up the client base to a point where opening a local station is cost effective. A ULC approved and certified station is not cheap, so in the interim, we use a ULC approved Canadian owned monitoring station to keep an eye on our accounts. Just like the other firms looking for your business, we subcontract our monitoring for the short term. We are honest and straight forward about that fact. Our monitoring station is not affiliated with, or has anything to do with Telus or ADT.
We can do any form of communications needed for an alarm system to communicate, dial up communicators* (*industry standard), Internet Protocol communications, LTE and Cellular communications as well as direct secured radio links. We are business focused, however we also look after residential accounts, if it has an alarm system we will look after it and are more than capable of upgrading any system out there, regardless of it’s age.
