My career in the security industry didn’t start behind a desk—it started on the ground in 1982 as a uniformed private security guard for Intercept Investigations Limited in Victoria, BC. That experience taught me how security threats behave in the real world, far beyond what a manual can describe.
Driven by a fascination with preventative technology, I transitioned to the technical side in 1984 with The Alarmgard Group* (*a division of Western Alarms Ltd (1962)). By the time I founded ASC in 1991, I was committed to establishing a new standard of technical excellence in Prince George. This culminated in 1992, when I earned my ‘triple-threat’ of qualifications, including my ITA Journeyman status—a credential that remains the gold standard today under the SkilledTradesBC banner.

A.S.C. Advanced Security Concepts was formed in 1991, on a back bone of compliance and ethics in the provision of security alarm and video surveillance systems. In the interest of providing service that will deliver for our clients when they need it the most. We back our new installations with the manufacturers warranty for equipment we install (usually one year from the date of install), limited to replacement cost of the device in question.
We bench test all new system equipment, prior to site installation, to ensure a trouble free installation and to eliminate “configuration” issues on site. We also put all monitored systems on a one week, one site “test period” to be sure they system will function as required in the environment it’s designed to protect.
High speed communications is the key to faster response times for emergency services, we can monitor older dial up systems and in most cases upgrade them to high speed communications. Getting that signal to the monitoring station is critical, the sooner it’s sent the sooner response personnel can be sent.
No dedicated phone line? No problem, we have several options available to enable communications to our monitoring station from dial up service, high speed I.P. communications, right up to LTE and Cellular services.

Do you want to see what’s happening at your business day or night? Well, we can make that happen as well, with dedicated I.P. access* (*business accounts only), you can use your Digital Video Recorder (DVR) or Network Video Recorder (NVR) from your home computer, like you were sitting on site. Securely and quickly access video in real time or pull up video incident history from your home computer. Need evidence of an event for police, no problem, we can also provide that service for you ensuring the video is securely copied and submitted as evidence.
Do you have an older alarm system from another company? No problem, we would be happy to come by and inspect your existing system, and test all the devices to ensure they are functioning correctly. We can also do a “System Take Over” S.T.O., in most cases the existing equipment is still serviceable and just needs a “tune-up” and cleaning as well as testing the charging circuit, standby battery and sounding devices.
You can’t beat a set of copper wires, hardwired alarm systems are designed and built to provide years of trouble free service, if maintained correctly, and on a regular schedule. Some systems can easily be updated to high speed communications and bring added user features to you, the end user, we would be happy to review your current system and make any recommendations needed to ensure your getting the most cost effective protection.
